Loneliness
Rachel Sobylya

Here we are alone,
waiting on the inevitable
to reach down and push us
together, away from the ones
waiting for us, tending our children.

Toeing the line,
we are already drowning
in the lake of stars above us,
and the moon is a sickle
waiting to slice down with morning.
